The Environmental Justice Small Grants Program, supports and empowers communities working on solutions to local environmental and public health issues. The program assists recipients in building collaborative partnerships to help them understand and address environmental and public health issues in their communities.
Successful collaborative partnerships involve not only well-designed strategic plans to build, maintain and sustain the partnerships, but also working towards addressing the local environmental and public health issues.
An eligible applicant MUST BE one of the following entities:
incorporated non-profit organizations-including, but not limited to, environmental justice networks, faith based organizations and those affiliated with religious institutions;
federally recognized tribal governments; OR
Applicants must be located within the same state, territory, commonwealth, or tribe in which the proposed project is located. In addition, eligible applicants must demonstrate that they have worked directly with the affected community.
The application deadline is generally in early January
