Description

The Sunderland Foundation makes grants annually to publicly supported charitable organizations with tax exempt status under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation prefers to make grants for capital and special projects rather than for annual operating expenses.

Grants for building construction, renovation, repairs and restoration of facilities are considered. Areas of interest include higher education, churches, youth serving agencies, health facilities, community buildings, museums, civic projects, and low maintenance, energy efficient housing projects sponsored by qualified tax exempt organizations. Grants to primary and secondary schools are generally not considered.

Their online grant application will require the following information:
  • Requesting organization details, mission, and purpose
  • A statement regarding the organization’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Information regarding the organization’s board of directors and governance
  • Details regarding the nature of the project, why it is needed and expected outcomes and benefits

You will be asked to attach the following files to the application:
  • Detailed project budget
  • A schedule of project funding sources
  • A financial operating plan
  • Most recent audited financial statements and IRS Form 990
  • IRS 501(c)(3) Letter of Determination
  • IRS Form W-9
  • Any detailed plans, drawings, capital campaign brochures or other information you would like considered

There is no application deadline; applications may be submitted at any time.
