The Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority is accepting applications for its 2016 Field Trip Grant program. The program seeks to get school-aged children connected with nature, and funds action-packed field trips to Hemlock Overlook Regional Park in Clifton, VA.
Eligible applicants are public school 5th and 6th grade classes and programs across Northern Virginia. Students overcome physical and personal obstacles on a zip line and high ropes course.
In compliance with Virginia Standards of Learning, a two hour environmental education component is provided. This program introduces students to the diverse ecosystems that coexist with the world they know, leaving them with perspective and knowledge of their natural surroundings. Students will discover habitats of mid-Atlantic flora and fauna through hands-on exploration. Pick from watershed studies or ecology exploration curriculum.
The application deadline is February 21, 2020
