Keep Lincoln & Lancaster County Beautiful, a program coordinated by the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department, has mini-grants available for picking up litter in Lincoln and Lancaster County.
Organizations including schools, businesses, families and rural communities are encouraged to apply for the grants to help with cleaning up litter on public land, including waterways, lake shores, wildlife management areas, roadsides, streets and alleyways.
Applicants must identify a specific area and say why it was selected. Trash bags are provided and safety vests are available for loan.
Grants are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are awarded based on size of the area cleaned. Applications must include both litter and recycling components, may not be on state or county Adopt-a-Highway miles and must be approved before cleanup. Final reports, with photos, are required.
Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis through November 1.
