The Duke Endowment is accepting applications for North Carolina Rural Church Grants. This program will offer funding to United Methodist Churches in rural areas for health and human service-related outreach programs, church development, and leadership programs.


Grants will be awarded for programs that seek to replicate proven projects, strengthen organizations, or advance innovation through pilot programs.


Priority areas include projects related to:

- Food and hunger
- Tutoring and literacy
- Affordable housing
- Clergy leadership development and health and wellness projects
- Building construction or renovation



Past projects have included:

- Senior outreach programs
- Health and wellness programs
- Parish nursing programs



Rural United Methodist churches in North Carolina are eligible. Rural areas are defined using the standards of Rural-Urban Commuting Area codes.


Applicants should take an online eligibility questionnaire, located on the program website, before applying. Applications must be submitted through an online system.

 

The pre-application deadline is August 12, 2017.  The pre-application portal will open approximately six weeks prior to this deadline.
